A 34-year-old man was arrested by Rennes police on July 12. Investigators suspect him of having committed five snatch flights in the Villejean and Maurepas districts. The suspect always acted in the morning and with elderly or disabled women and stole their handbags.

The first facts reported to the police date back to June 11, when an 85-year-old woman was raped in the Maurepas district. Four other similar attacks have since been reported to law enforcement. It was a witness to the scene who took the license plate from the suspect's car.

Already known to the police for similar facts, the man was to be brought to justice on Wednesday to be tried in immediate appearance.
