The Democratic candidate for the American presidential elections, Joe Biden, revealed yesterday, an ambitious plan to combat climate change worth two trillion dollars, that would develop the American energy sector and seek to achieve carbon-free energy in just 15 years.

The clean energy proposal was announced in a speech in Wilmington, Delaware, during which the veteran politician sought to appear in opposition to President Donald Trump before the November elections, considering that fighting climate change would create a huge number of jobs under the Biden administration.

Biden pledged to spend two trillion dollars within four years to pay his plan, a significant increase over the amount of 1.7 trillion dollars, which he had proposed spending, within 10 years, within his climate plan in the primary campaign.

Biden said that "converting the American electricity sector to produce energy without resulting in carbon pollution will be the biggest catalyst for job creation and economic competitiveness in the twenty-first century." He added, "For this reason, we will reach the electricity sector free of carbon pollution, by 2035."

He also said that he will once again join the Paris climate agreement, which Trump withdrew from in 2017, will finance the construction of 1.5 million new energy-saving homes, develop hardware standards, and make renewable energy a priority.

Biden, who publicly refrained from campaigning due to the outbreak of the Corona virus, launched an attack on Trump, for failing to contain the epidemic that killed 136,000 Americans, and to set an example for citizens by wearing a protective mask, which he did last Saturday.

Biden said that the infection "has worsened, to the point that Donald Trump has finally decided to put a mask in public."

He also attacked Trump and the Republicans, for their lack of technological vision, and their promotion of "reactionary policies that harm the environment" and hurt the economy.

Biden leads Trump on many issues, according to polls, but voters still see the president as the strongest leader in the American economy.
