Guaranteed to finish in second place in the English championship, Manchester City won without forcing against Bournemouth (2-1) on Wednesday, while Tottenham dominated Newcastle (3-1) and put pressure on Wolverhampton, held in check at Burnley (1-1).

. City continues its series

Two days after the positive decision of the Sports Arbitral Tribunal, which canceled the two-year suspension of the European cups imposed in February by UEFA, Manchester City, unsurprisingly continued their good streak against Bournemouth (2-1), on the occasion of the 36th day of the championship of England.

David Silva opened the scoring on a free kick in the 6th minute, and gave a assist to Gabriel Jesus (39th). The Spanish attacking midfielder (34), who will leave Manchester City at the end of this season after ten years at the club, had already scored and made two assists last week against Newcastle (5-0).

Bournemouth, who remains relegated first with three points behind Watford and West Ham, reduced the score at the very end of the match (Brooks, 88th).

The win will not change anything in City's final Premier League ranking, isolated in second place far behind Liverpool and far ahead of Chelsea, Leicester and United. It does, however, lend credence to the idea that the Guardiola players are in the best mood for the last installments of the season: first the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday against Arsenal and especially the eighth-final second leg in the Champions League against Real Madrid in three weeks.

. Tottenham is still doing

Three days after winning the derby against Arsenal (2-1), Tottenham won Newcastle (1-3). With some success, there too ...

The Magpies have shot 22 times but have been too clumsy.

Harry Kane scored his first double since December and his thigh injury. The English striker crossed the 200 goal mark in the Premier League, just 26 years old. Seventh with a point behind Wolverhampton, the Spurs remain in the race for the Europa League. Tottenham's right side Serge Aurier, whose younger brother lost his life on Monday, was lined up from the start.

. Regrets for Wolverhampton

While they thought they had done the hardest by scoring late in the game thanks to a good volley from Raul Jimenez (76th), the Wolves were finally joined in the sixth minute of extra time on a penalty from Chris Wood, and yield two points to Burnley (1-1)

This result eliminates the last slim hopes of winning a place in the Champions League. It also weakens Wolverhampton's position for the next Europa League. Sheffield United, eighth with two points behind, will indeed have the opportunity to pass in the event of a victory in Leicester on Thursday.

This 36th day continues Wednesday evening with Arsenal - Liverpool (19:15 GMT)
