One of Sweden's new firefighting aircraft was to land at Skavsta Airport on Wednesday, but the landing could not be carried out because the aircraft could not fold out its landing gear.

The pilot then turned around and landed on the water in the Nyköping archipelago, reports SVTNyheter Sörmland.

The plane will now be troubleshooting, says FredrikHermansson, air rescue leader at the Sea and Air Rescue Center.

- The fire planes are built to land on both land and water, but his intention was to land at Skavsta airport, he says to SVT.
