The Executive Director of Dubai Health Care Corporation, Dr. Yunus Kazim, told «Emirates Today» that the authority is working on preparing qualified medical cadres, especially in relation to infectious diseases, emergency medicine, and public health, in addition to primary health care services. It also works to implement the Emiratization file in the professional cadres, and support the development of the Emirati workforce in the health sector in Dubai, stressing that the Emiratization program tops the priorities of the Medical Education and Research Department, which seeks to urge outstanding students in the "General Secondary" to join medical specialties, pointing to the successes The "Medicine and Science" program, since its launch in 2016, has achieved it in attracting dozens of distinguished students with a high school diploma to complete their university studies in the fields of medical and health sciences.

The "Medicine and Science" program witnessed, at the end of last month, the graduation of 28 graduates, to include care for about 200 students, within four years.

Kazem added: "The (Covid-19) pandemic demonstrated the urgent need to prepare professional cadres in the health sector, to meet the needs of the Emirati community from the health system, by preparing highly qualified citizen cadres."

He emphasized that the Department of Medical Education and Research focuses with interest on the "medicine and science" program, with the aim of raising Emiratisation rates in various medical specialties, supportive medical, and nursing, especially in light of the circumstances the world is currently experiencing, as a result of the outbreak of the "Covid-19" pandemic, which confirmed The leading role of the medical, nursing and supportive medical cadres in the health system, which is responsible for facing such exceptional circumstances.
