A 2-year-old child died on Monday in the small town of Pleslin-Trivagou, near Dinan (Côtes d'Armor). The young victim died drowned in a fish pond about 40 centimeters deep, reports Ouest-France . The water hole is located in the garden of the family house.
It was the parents who discovered their inanimate child and alerted their neighbors and the emergency services. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful and the child was declared dead by the medical examiner. According to France 3 Brittany, the autopsy of the body confirmed the thesis of accidental drowning.
In recent days and the start of the school holidays, cases of drowning have multiplied in France. Last week, a 9 year old child died drowned in the swimming pool of a campsite in Vendée. In the Morbihan, two men also perished in the Vilaine when they went fishing.
