On Wednesday, July 15, the first group of volunteers who participated in the test of the vaccine against coronavirus infection COVID-19 was discharged in Moscow.

As the head of the University’s Clinical Drug Research Center, chief researcher Elena Smolyarchuk, noted, the test participants were in fact isolated for six weeks.

“Our volunteers, having received a dose of the vaccine, transferred it absolutely well and today they are leaving the clinical base of Sechenovskiy University,” she said.

In turn, the director of the Scientific and Practical Center for Interventional Cardioangiology at Sechenovskiy University Sergey Semitko indicated that the tolerance of the domestic drug from COVID-19 was “good”.

At the same time, Smolyarchuk indicated that after administering the vaccine, volunteers experienced minor complications (redness, fever, headache, and others), but "it stopped within a day." At the moment, the subjects have antibodies in sufficient volume for protection.

“It is expected that the results (tests will be known. - RT) by the end of July, they will be submitted to the regulator, the Ministry of Health for consideration, in the autumn we will wait for the first results,” the specialist emphasized.

Note that clinical trials of a vaccine developed by the Honorary Academician N.F. National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamalei began on June 18 and was also held among volunteer soldiers in the hospital named after academician N.N. Burdenko of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

The defense department emphasized that the main objective of the study was to check the safety and tolerability of the vaccine components, and before discharge all volunteers underwent a control examination and passed a blood test to study the development of an immune response.

“For 28 days after vaccination, the vital signs of the volunteers remained within normal limits, serious adverse events, health complaints, complications or adverse reactions were not recorded. The available laboratory and instrumental studies allow us to speak with confidence about the safety and good tolerance of the vaccine, ”the Ministry of Defense said.

It is noted that on the 42nd day after the first vaccination, volunteers will have to return to the hospital for a day to undergo a medical examination and complete all necessary documents.

“Their immunity works, antibodies are produced, and they are protected from coronavirus. Therefore, we, with a calm soul, conscience, let them go home, to relatives, close ones, to families, to their work. So go on, ”said Svetlana Volchikhina, the head of the therapeutic department of the main military clinical hospital named after Burdenko.

As Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted, the epidemiological situation in Russia is improving.

“The situation is objectively improving, the peak of the virus has been passed. In particular, during this day in the country, the increase in incidence is minimal - it does not exceed 1%, ”said the head of government during a meeting of the coordinating council to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Over the past day, 6,422 new cases of coronavirus infection with COVID-19 were detected in 85 regions of Russia. According to the headquarters, 26.6% of new patients had no clinical manifestations of coronavirus infection.

Note that a day earlier, 6,248 cases were recorded.

In total, in Russia, the diagnosis of COVID-19 was confirmed in 746,369 people.

From the beginning of the epidemic in Russia, 523,249 people recovered (70.1%), including 10,424 in the last day. From complications that developed against the background of coronavirus infection and concomitant diseases, 11,770 patients (1.58%) died. 156 people died per day. 

According to the Rospotrebnadzor, in Russia about 23.7 million tests for coronavirus have been carried out (according to this indicator, the Russian Federation is in second place in the world). During the day, the number of studies performed increased by 258 thousand. 270.9 thousand people remain under medical supervision in the country.

The number of regions where the greatest number of new cases were detected per day included: Moscow (628), St. Petersburg (264), Sverdlovsk Region (263), Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (251), Altai Territory (246), Nizhny Novgorod Region ( 229), Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (202).

Note that Moscow is the leader in the country in the number of cases - 231,270. At the same time, 167,810 people have already recovered in the capital, 4,234 have died from the infection.

As noted in the Moscow Department of Health, the increase in new patients with COVID-19 continues to decline.

“The July indicators of the number of new cases are comparable to the April ones. The number of new cases in the past two weeks has decreased by another 27.3%. 51.3% of new cases are people aged 18 to 45 years, 26.1% - from 46 to 65 years old, 9.7% - from 66 to 79 years old, another 5.1% - over 80 years old. Also, 7.8% of those affected are children, ”the report said.
