Unemployment continues to rise when the Swedish Public Employment Service presents its statistics for June.

According to the Swedish Public Employment Service, it is above all young people, foreign-born people and people with temporary employment who have been hit hardest during the spring. In Gävleborg County, young people are the most affected group with an unemployment rate of 19.3 percent, which is an increase of 6.7 percent since the beginning of the year.

118 young people signed up

The number of new entrants to the Swedish Public Employment Service is also increasing. Last week, week 28, 310 people in the county registered as unemployed, of which 118 were young people. In the same week last year, there were 204 people, of whom 69 were young people.

Overall in the country, unemployment has increased from 6.7 percent to 9.0 percent compared to the same month last year. Gävleborg County, together with Södermanland County and Skåne County, tops the statistics and now has the highest unemployment in Sweden.

The drastic increase in the county is largely due to the mass warnings at the end of June that SVT Gävleborg previously reported on.
