The police have arrested the owner of the Rúa Mar, who was wrecked on January 23, about seven miles from Tarifa (Cádiz) with his six crew members on board, in the framework of an operation against the hashish trafficking networks of the Strait of Gibraltar. through fishing boats, police sources have reported on Tuesday.
The operation, within a cause declared secret by the Court number 6 of the National Court, this Tuesday leads the agents to carry out several simultaneous searches of houses, warehouses and farms in different places in Algeciras and Campo de Gibraltar.
In the operation, in which more than 200 agents from different units participate, the owner of Rúa Mar, the fishing vessel that sank in Moroccan waters and was searched for a month, has been arrested, although only the master's corpses could be recovered, Antonio Javier Maza, 52 years old and uncle of the owner, and of the sailor Óscar Maquera.
As EL MUNDO published at the time, at the time of his disappearance, the fishing boat was already in the focus of an investigation by the National Court for his alleged participation in activities related to drug trafficking.
