Regarding the vaccine for the new coronavirus, Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Kato requested medical device manufacturers to increase the production of syringes and the like, hoping to be able to start vaccinations in the first half of next year if the supply becomes possible.

Regarding the new coronavirus vaccine, the government is supporting domestic development and is proceeding with discussions with related countries so that we can secure as many as possible when developed overseas.

Under these circumstances, Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Kato met with representatives of six medical device manufacturers in Japan and overseas on the 14th, saying, "Vaccine development is highly expected by the public. I want to inoculate."

In addition, he said, "Since the vaccination system will be completed only with a syringe, I would like to ask for an increase in production from the present time in anticipation of the first half of next year", and requested an increase in production of necessary medical equipment.

After the visit, Terumo Chairman Takahito Mimura told reporters, "Since it is a national disaster, we promised to cooperate between companies and meet the requests as much as possible. I would like to ask the government for cooperation such as subsidies."
