Gérald Darmanin was appointed interior minister on Monday after being accused of rape, sexual harassment and breach of trust by Sophie Patterson-Spatz. 

The appointment of Gérald Darmanin to the Minister of the Interior in the Jean Castex government has been widely commented. In mid-June, after two years of procedural battle, the Paris Court of Appeal had ordered the resumption of investigations into this case dating back to 2009. We have also made several advances ", attacked the president, before coming back to the specific case of his Minister of the Interior, asking himself by guaranteeing the presumption of innocence: "I believe in the strength of just causes. I think that no cause is defended, precisely, if we do it by flouting the fundamental principles of our democracy. I say it for a Minister, as I will say for some that it is: I am also, where I place myself, the guarantor of this presumption of innocence ".
