“The Egyptian armed forces have the right to intervene to protect Libyan and Egyptian national security if they see an imminent threat to the security of our two countries,” RIA Novosti quoted the statement of the House of Representatives of Libya.

The Libyan parliament called on Egypt to "concerted efforts" to maintain stability in Libya and throughout the region.

Earlier, Haftar announced his intention to expel Turkish troops from Libya.

In June, Egyptian leader Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, after meeting with Haftar and House President Akila Saleh, announced a new inter-Libyan initiative, including a ceasefire and a political settlement.
