July 14, 2020 "Today there are 13 million and a half million dead, it is clear that we cannot let our guard down. Let's not split on this, even in the scientific community on the debates, but nobody says that we should not wear masks, keep our distance or to wash hands".This was stated by the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, illustrating in the Senate Chamber the new Dpcm of extension to July 31 of the anti Covid measures.
"The international situation is very worrying," he added. "There is no zero risk without the vaccine, we must not underestimate the risk of the pandemic. The circulation of the virus accelerates and does not lose power." Then: "The risk of 'importing' the virus from Italians returning from abroad or from citizens arriving from other countries is concrete, it can be greatly reduced but not eliminated".
On the extension of the state of emergency, contested by the opposition, Speranza said that nothing has yet been decided, the Council of Ministers will have to deal with it. "At the moment no decision has been taken on the extension of the state of emergency: the Council of Ministers will have to meet and the Parliament will have to be the protagonist. I consider the emergency phase archived, but the point is to discuss what are the most appropriate tools to deal with it. We will evaluate all the hypotheses in the field. I am convinced that the state of emergency can be linked to an exceptional and limited period for our country ".
