On Tuesday, the demolition of the 55-year-old, Mörrumsskolan, began in order to begin work on the new one. The approximately 8,000 square meter building will accommodate just over 500 students in grades F-6. The school will replace the current Mörrumsskolan, Hästarydsskolan and Bolsgården.

The school will consist of six connected houses with two floors, completely without corridors. Instead, spaces outside the classrooms will be designed so that students can sit there and work.

- It is a school of the future, with a focus on sustainability and a healthy work environment, says project manager William Lavesson.

Followed the school's rise and fall

It was in November that the municipal board gave the go-ahead for the large school investment, which is estimated to cost around SEK 230 million. There will be solar cells on the roof and the children themselves have been involved in influencing the schoolyard.

Britta Svensson lives next door to Mörrumsskolan and has now both seen it built and demolished.

- I have two sons who have both gone down here, she says in the clip above.
