July 14, 2020 The National Agency for Civil Aviation, from Friday July 10, has suffered an attack by computer piracy which has made inaccessible some information contained in the systems of the Authority. The ENAC communicates it in a note. Based on what emerged in the course of the restoration activities initiated by the Body in the immediate term, no data were stolen. In any case, the data contained in the institution's IT systems is safeguarded in a backup system. ENAC has already filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office and the National Cyber Anticrime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures and has promptly implemented all the technical interventions necessary to restore, in the shortest possible time, the full operation of the systems and IT infrastructures of the organization.

It should be noted that ENAC does not store personal data of passengers who use air transport, but only has overall traffic data, relating to the number of passengers passing through national airports. It should also be noted that the NatoUEO classified documentation management system runs on a separate system that is not on the network and has not been attacked. There are no consequences even for the operations of the airports that the Entity has under direct management. The ENAC, in contact with the authorities of reference for hacking attacks, is continuing the restoration actions to ensure as soon as possible the resumption of the performance of the public service rendered through the activities of the Authority and its employees.
