by Fabrizio Patti 14 July 2020 Even on the stock exchange today there is Atlantia in the spotlight. The company that owns 88% of Autostrade per l'Italia yesterday lost 15%, today on the day of the Council of Ministers dedicated to the issue, it rises by 2.70%. In the last hours the hypothesis of a commissioner of the dealership has appeared. The day started with the minus sign for almost all European price lists. London -0.7%, Frankfurt -1.44%. Milan marks -0.9%. Among the other stocks, there was a drop of over 2% for StMicroelectronics and Nexi, -2% for Ferrari and Fineco. Above parity, in addition to Atlantia, only Mediobanca, Banco Bpm and Unicredit, with increases within 0.30%. Asian markets were also negative on the night, after a prolonged phase of growth. The biggest drop for the Hong Kong stock exchange, -1.38%; Shanghai and Tokyo -0.8%. According to analysts, there are two reasons: the increase in hospitalizations in various countries of the world and the decision to close non-essential activities in California. Then there are the new tensions between the United States and China on the South China Sea. Clutches that yesterday wiped out Wall Street's progress: flat Dow Jones and Nasdaq index down more than two points. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo yesterday called China's search for offshore resources in that area "completely illegal". Today then the quarterly season begins, with the publication of the accounts from April to June of three major banks: JpMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Wells Fargo. They will give the first updated indications on the year-end forecast.
