The number of people of determination registered in the system of the Ministry of Community Development reached 24,165 individuals, up by 3.87% during the second half of this year, compared to their number announced in December of 2019.
The statistical data issued by the Ministry and published on its website showed that the number of requests submitted to the Ministry for obtaining the People of Determination card amounted to two thousand and 2430 requests since the beginning of the current year to date, and also revealed the fulfillment and completion of conditions for a number of them to be issued about 902 cards for different groups of people of determination During the current year, bringing the total number of people registered in the Ministry’s system from 23,263 individuals last December to 24,165 people of determination.
The People of Determination Card is a personal card granted by the Ministry of Community Development to persons with a disability, and it is considered an official document proving that its holder is a person with a disability, in a manner that guarantees him the rights and services stipulated in the Persons with Disabilities Law No. (29) of 2006 AD and the regulations and decisions issued in implementation thereof .
The card provides the holder with citizens and residents with many free facilities and services. The card covers those with determination. It includes 11 categories that include physical, mental, hearing, visual, autism, multiple disabilities, and psychological disabilities.
Conditions for the issuance of the card include that the applicant is a citizen of the United Arab Emirates or legal residents of the United Arab Emirates, and that he is diagnosed by an official medical or psychological authority approved by the Department of Welfare and Rehabilitation of People of Determination in the Ministry, as well as providing medical or psychological reports that prove the existence of The disability in terms of its type and severity and the auxiliary tools or aids to be used.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Community Development launched last March, in the wake of the spread of the Corona pandemic, a "remote rehabilitation" system, which targets students affiliated with centers for people of determination, and "workshops" for vocational rehabilitation and employment, and children registered with units and centers for early intervention, within the Emirates Early Intervention Program At the level of the Emirates Emirates.
The ministry announced that the system is a smart initiative for development work based on the principle of reaching the beneficiaries of the ministry's services in a manner that ensures the continuation of the education and rehabilitation process for people of determination without interruption during periods of crisis and emergency.
