Villagers are forced to drive on bad roads when bridge is rebuilt: "Worst I've ever driven"

Previously, those living in Båtsjaur outside Arjeplog have been able to take the bridge over Dainak, but the bridge is in poor condition and closed waiting for a new one to be built. Instead, road users are referred to Route 625 between Laisvallby and Båtsjaur.

- It's terribly bad. It cannot be described in words but must be experienced, says Jonny Johansson, a resident of Båtsjaur.

Construction of the new bridge over Dainak has been delayed. Construction is expected next year and the bridge will not be ready until 2023. In the meantime, those living in Båtsjaur are thus referred to road 625, but no major upgrading of the road is not relevant.

"It is a low-traffic road and it is not a huge priority," says Staffan Ökvist, director of operations area north of the Swedish Transport Administration.

- You have to be patient and try to adapt the speed to prevailing conditions. We understand that it is important to get the Dainak Bridge back in place and it is unfortunate that it was postponed in the future.
