On April 19, the rescue service was alerted to a burning villa in Karlbo. There, the rescue service found an injured woman who was rushed to the Academic Hospital in Uppsala. The days after, the body was also found after the woman's partner who was rescued from the house. Investigation has shown that the body had several wounds caused by a knife.

The suspected 52-year-old, who is the son of the injured woman who lived in the house, was arrested the same day and has been detained for the months the investigation has been ongoing.

Just over two weeks ago, charges were brought against the man who is now facing trial as a suspect for murder, attempted murder and serious murder.

- It is about technical evidence, autopsy, medical examination and several interrogations. I believe there is sufficient evidence to prosecute three offenses, prosecutor Ludmila Pronko previously told SVT Dalarna.

Claims emergency protection

The man denies responsibility for murder, but admits he stabbed the dead man with a knife. However, he claims that it was an emergency situation when the older man must have attacked him, and that he then used the knife to defend himself.
