Respiratory protection approved again - despite criticism

This was approved in the National Board of Health's test this spring, but failed in the tests that the Stockholm region and the Swedish Defense Research Institute (FOI) conducted to allow them to pass up to seven times more water drops than allowed.

Therefore, respiratory protection was stopped while waiting for a new investigation and it is now complete.

“On the basis of the previous test result, the National Board of Health and Welfare assesses that there is no obstacle to using the respiratory masks. The regions have today been informed that the temporary recommendation not to use the masks is now lifted. " writes Erik Magnusson, purchasing manager for the National Board of Health and Welfare's special organization in a press release.

And the Norrbotten region, which has 30,000 respirators at the Boden warehouse, intends to follow the supplier's advice.

- If the state testing institute RISE and the National Board of Health say it is okay to use these respirators again, this is what applies to us. This is also what we will follow and we have informed the business about this. Our 30,000 copies will be delivered in line with the orders, says Anders Blomqvist, Head of Operations.

But the different tasks and the different trips have created confusion and concern. How do you handle it?

- We follow the recommendations and decisions that are made and here they have said that the respiratory protection is OK and then we trust it, he says.

Can you guarantee that it is completely safe to use the respirator?

- Yes, so our supplier the National Board of Health says so, so I suppose that is the case.
