It was on Wednesday last week that Naya Rivera disappeared in connection with a boat trip with her four-year-old son on Lake Piru. According to the son, who is said to be unharmed, they bathed together in the lake. Naya Rivera is said to have lifted her son into the boat after the bath, but should not have come out of the lake herself.

The son was found in the rented boat after the landlords had started looking as it had not been returned on time.

A large search operation was launched, about a hundred divers and other rescue personnel initially participated in the work. Towards the end of the week, however, the effort was reduced and the police announced that they feared Naya Rivera had drowned.

Body found

On Monday, police then went out to find a body at Lake Piru, without going out with any identity.

During a press conference later in the day, however, it was confirmed that it was Naya Rivera who was found dead.

Police say there are no suspicions of crime. There are also no signs that she committed suicide.
