The Popular Party has won the regional elections in Galicia with 47.9% of the votes and 41 seats, the same as in 2016. Alberto Núñez Feijóo thus revalidates for the fourth consecutive time the absolute majority of the popular in the Galician parliament. The Galego Nationalist Bloc (BNG) remains as the second force, with 23.8% of the votes and 19 seats, 13 more than in 2016. The formation led by Ana Pontón thus surpasses the Socialist Party of Galicia, which maintains the same number of seats than in the previous elections: 14.

The failure of this electoral appointment has been for Galicia en Común . The formation supported by Unidas Podemos and which reached 14 deputies in 2016 under the acronym En Marea, which included the split of Marea Galeguista , has been left without parliamentary representation. Outside the Galician parliament there are also Vox, with 2.03% of the votes, and Ciudadanos, with 0.75%.

On an election day marked by the coronavirus, participation in election night was 4.87 points lower than in 2016, at 58.88% . The final data will be known when the results of the vote of the residents living abroad are obtained.

The place where participation has fallen the most compared to 2016 has been O Valadouro , a municipality in the A Mariña region where confinement took place until last Friday due to an outbreak of coronavirus. Only 57% of those registered have gone to vote, which represents a decrease of 13.85 points.

Although the fall has been widespread throughout the territory, the municipalities of this region are among those that have participated the least in these elections. Conversely, participation in up to 26 localities has been greater than in 2016.

The popular ones have won in 298 of the 313 Galician municipalities. In Beariz and Avión, towns in the province of Orense, the voting percentage for those in Feijóo has exceeded 85%. Despite being the third force, the PSOE has won in 9 locations and in Piedrafita do Cebreiro it has won more than half of the valid votes. For its part, the BNG has won in 6 municipalities, among which O Grove stands out, with more than 10,000 inhabitants.

If these results are compared with those of 2016, the biggest drop in the PP has taken place in Verea, where training has fallen to 23 points. In exchange, the BNG has grown in the municipality of Orense up to 36.3 points compared to the previous elections. Participation in this town has grown almost seven points, the highest figure in Galicia.

Galicia en Común has fallen throughout the territory, although the worst part is borne by Vilar de Santos (Orense), where the formation linked to Podemos has lost 48 points. Citizens have also achieved worse results in practically all of the municipalities.
