Greek islands await tourists desperately. The tourist season has started since June 15 with the opening of borders but vacationers are not there. Even if the country only deplores 193 victims of the coronavirus out of 11 million inhabitants, Greece also remains a collateral victim of the pandemic.

In Kos, a stone's throw from Rhodes, one inhabitant in two works in tourism. But the sector shows a vertiginous fall of more than 70%. Between reduction of air links and barrier measures, most hotels remain closed for the season.

A drama for waitress Valentini Troumouzi, who suddenly finds himself unemployed. "Here, there is the sun and the sea, but that does not feed us." The Greek state gives aid of 534 euros for seasonal unemployed workers, but this sum is no longer enough.

The situation becomes dramatic for the inhabitants. Poverty and hunger threaten the country. Last week in Rhodes an undernourished little girl passed out from hunger.
