China News Service, July 13 (South Korea). According to Korea International Broadcasting (KBS), after the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, South Korea's traffic volume has decreased significantly. Although there has been a recent rebound, the Korean people still try to avoid taking public transportation.

Samsung Traffic Safety Culture Research Institute analyzed the traffic volume of 135 locations in Seoul and found that the average daily traffic volume in these areas reached 9.65 million vehicles in May. If the average traffic volume in December 2019 before the outbreak of the New Crown Outbreak was used as the benchmark (100%), the traffic volume had returned to 97.5%.

Prior to March 2020, due to the implementation of social distance measures by the South Korean government, traffic in these areas was less than 92%.

The increase in traffic on weekends is even more significant, with the average daily traffic on weekends in May increasing by 10% from March.

However, the analysis of the use of transportation cards shows that the average number of public transportation uses in the metropolitan area in May is 9.9 million times a day, which is still three-quarters of the 13 million times in December 2019. According to analysis, the traffic volume in South Korea is mainly increased by private cars, and people still avoid taking public transportation.
