Amid the recent discovery of plastic waste in the belly of a wild elephant that has died in Thailand, awareness of environmental pollution is rising again.

According to the Bangkok Post on the 12th, officials from Thailand's National Parks and Wildlife Plants found a wild elephant hiding four days ago near a university campus in Chanthaburi Province.

The male elephant, weighing about 3.5 tons, was 20 years old and a plastic bag was found from the top of the carcass.

The elephant has been shown to have died from a serious intestinal infection, and the species sign is said to be released soon.

"The campaign to reduce the plastic bag shows that our campaign to reduce the plastic bag is being ignored," the newspaper said.
