In response to the municipal survey that forms the basis for the County Administrative Board's housing market analysis, Storuman writes that there is an imbalance with a deficit of housing in the municipality, both in the central city and in the other parts of the municipality.
According to the municipality, there is a lack of:
- More large apartments, or villas for large families
- Smaller apartments for young people
- Small rental rights for year-round housing at the tourist resorts Hemavan and Tärnaby
- Senior apartments throughout the municipality
- Smaller apartments for seasonal accommodation at the tourist resorts
On the other hand, the municipality estimates that in three years' time, there will primarily be a continued shortage of senior apartments in the municipality as well as housing in Hemavan and Tärnaby.
"Construction boom in Hemavan "
The municipal council and the municipal council's deputy chairman Karin Malmfjord (S) believe that there has been a high pressure on housing construction in the tourist resorts of Hemavan and Tärnaby, but that it has been problematic to find manpower.
- It is not possible to obtain construction contractors, it is still the construction boom in Hemavan.
She continues:
- There is a shortage of plumbers, long waiting times to get hold of electricians. They work everything they can, our craftsmen. And that situation has been for a couple of years.
