09 June 2019New landing this afternoon in Lampedusa. Thirty-eight people were rescued at sea while on board a small boat. The migrants were brought aboard a vehicle of the Coast Guard and their boat was towed to the port of the island.

These are 38 migrants from Africa, according to what was reported, via Twitter, "Mediterranean Hope", the program for refugees and migrants of the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Italy. The group of migrants started from Libya and is made up of 20 men, 17 women and a girl, natives of Ivory Coast, Guinea and Tunisia. Some of them were dehydrated. Among them also a woman in precarious health.

On Saturday 53 other migrants also arrived in Calabria on a small precarious boat. On Friday, 60 people had arrived.

The new migrants were aboard a small sailboat, which was rescued off the coast of Isola Capo Rizzuto, in the Crotone area, and brought to the port of Crotone by the Guardia di Finanza. The migrants on board are 53 men of Pakistani nationality. Among them also ten minors. The ship, as well as that of Friday, had left Turkey and was flying the flag of the same country of Asia Minor.

With the arrival of summer and with the improvement of climatic conditions it is probable that the phenomenon of the so-called 'ghost landings' may increase. The Guardia di Finanza continues to maintain vigilance at sea in order to intercept this type of boat difficult to see with migrants on board.
