In the clip above you get to meet the rabbit Lenny and the caretaker Jennie Breem.

Jennie Breem and her husband Tobias Fredin run the animal home Krongårdens - the second home of the animals in Fjärås. In the yard, they take care of rabbits and other small animals that need temporary housing or are homeless and need to be relocated.

As part of the business, they also rent out rabbits - an alternative to buying rabbits, which according to Jennie Breem, has become increasingly common, especially during the summer months. But this summer has been special.

- It has exploded. Already in April, requests began to come in and then it has only increased. Right now we rent almost twice as many rabbits compared to previous years, says Jennie Breem.

An effect of corona pandemic

She is convinced that it is the ongoing pandemic that is behind the increase.

- People travel less, are isolated and need company.

But is it really good for the animals to move around that way?

- Yes, we always give the rabbits time to acclimatize and our hope is that they will be adopted. Hiring rabbits provides an opportunity to test how it is and it is a way to avoid rushed animal purchases.
