Travelers from France can again travel to the United Kingdom without going through the fortnightly box. No sooner said than done, many travelers rushed to the Gare du Nord on Friday to board the Eurostar as quickly as possible.

REPORTAGE

It is again possible to travel freely to the United Kingdom. Since Friday, people coming from France are no longer obliged to spend 14 days in isolation when they arrive on British soil. Many travelers hastened to embark as soon as this measure was lifted. "I have my daughter who gives birth normally at the end of the month. I couldn't see her during her whole pregnancy, so it's a big relief to be able to go there," says Annick, crossed by Europe 1 at the North Station.

"I will be able to move around quietly again"

She had been waiting for this trip for months, but could not afford to be absent for more than two weeks. Annick has therefore reserved her ticket with the possibility of canceling it in the event that the fortnight is not lifted. An option given by Eurostar and also used by Gloria, who has lived in London for eight years. She has already postponed returning home three times. "I did not accept having to stay in my apartment and having difficulty getting supplies. I will be able to move around quietly again without having to worry about being arrested or answering questions from the British authorities," explains- she.

To cope with the influx of passengers, Eurostar has set up four trains in both directions, instead of one previously. But the sanitary measures against the coronavirus are always drastic, safety distance and masks are compulsory. And if Chloé postponed her trip by two days to avoid the fortnight, she intends to be careful once there. "I'm going to be on my guard, keep my mask, avoid gathering with people ... But hey I'm happy, I'm going to be able to move a little." For her, the most important remains the impression of a gradual return to normal.
