Ingolstadt (dpa) - Joker Fabian Schleusener prevented the horror scenario for 1. FC Nürnberg with a last-minute goal and saved the «Club» from relegation.

He scored in the sixth minute of injury time to 1: 3 (0: 0) at FC Ingolstadt. That was enough for the guests from Nuremberg after the 2-0 in the first leg. Ingolstadt thus remains third-rate, the "club" after relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga.

The Ingolstadt team of coach Tomas Oral was on the brink of the little football miracle in the empty home sports park with a brilliant effectiveness after resting balls. Three free kicks by Marcel Gaus led to the goals of captain Stefan Kutschke (52.minute), who successfully dusted off, and headballs by Tobias Schröck (62.) and Robin Krauße (62.). The "Club" defense acted far too passively three times. The cautious beginning outsider had previously successfully put the favorites to sleep - Oral's wait-and-see tactic worked out brilliantly until shortly before the end.

Before the kick-off of a memorable evening, Ingolstadt's hope had a name: Stefan Kutschke. The center forward, who had been injured in the first leg, reported fit. "Stefan is irreplaceable as a type," emphasized FCI coach Oral. The return of the tree-length battering ram in the storm was not a signal for the Ingolstadt storm run. Rather, both teams watched for 45 minutes.

Back to zero - that would have been enough for the "club", which had a first chance of heading through Mikael Ishak (9th minute). The FCI had its only real chance of scoring before the break in an indirect free kick, which Krausse narrowly passed from the Nuremberg goal from 19 meters (27th). The rest was lawn chess - unspectacular!

That changed after the break. Gau's free-kick flanked three times into the penalty area and the ball landed three times. The horror in the "club" camp was great. Interim coach Michael Wiesinger tried changing. A header from Joker Nikola Dovedan cleared FCI defender Nico Antonitsch shortly before the goal line (80th). And then Schleusener came.
