Mario Garcés is the PP's economic spokesman in Congress. Forms with Ana Pastor the tandem destined to close a State agreement with the PSOE. From his marked liberal vision, he makes a closed defense of the intelligentsia as the engine of politics and warns that he will only get out of the crisis by adjusting spending.

Are health and EU agreements finally going to be closed in the Reconstruction Commission? Is there some effort to make the deal look easy? There is a fairly close possibility. It was not possible last week, but I am convinced that nothing we start negotiating again, the possibilities of agreements are real. In the EU there is a very difficult obstacle to overcome that is that of Gibraltar. In the post-Covid era, making a Analysis of the future of Spain does not have to go through Gibraltar. I suggest deleting the reference, if we do not reach an agreement. Are the agreements with the PSOE easier if Ana Pastor and Mario Garcés, who have been in the Government, negotiate, than if other profiles without management experience do so? theme of the two souls. Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo is perfectly qualified for any negotiation, but in this case the party considered that it was up to Ana Pastor, who has management experience. And I have a very pactista profile, but I am absolutely faithful to Cayetana. That there are two souls, as you have pointed out, is it a weakness of the PP, or a wasted strength? There are not so many two souls as different ways of positioning oneself before a certain political approach. I'm talking about the shapes, not the background. In these circumstances, Cayetana is absolutely essential. It represents thought in its radicality. If Cayetana did not exist, it would have to be invented. It is true that because of this radicalism - not in expression but in thought - there are people who may not understand the content and scope of what they are saying. Ana Pastor has a different profile. It is more managerial. They are two absolutely compatible positions. Many political parties would already like to have these two registers to act differently depending on the case. If Álvarez de Toledo is «absolutely essential», as you say, why have the Galician and Basque PPs dispensed with it and not the Have you invited to campaign? Both in Galicia and in the Basque Country there are many people who will vote for the PP because there are people like Cayetana. The position of voting is not taken only on the basis of who goes and who does not to a campaign. In the electoral posters of Feijóo it is difficult to find the initials of the PP. How do you explain that? Because Feijóo is PP. I have known Alberto for years and he is the perfect mix of politician: political perspective, technical knowledge and almost perfect control of the party. Should the negotiation on the EU and health should prelude to major national emergency agreements? Is there a problem in Spain? and is that in order to reach agreements the axis of politics has to be at the center again. If the PSOE keeps the axis so far to the left, it is very difficult, so if the PSOE looks at the center and renounces some of the measures that Podemos asks, will there be a possibility that the PP will agree on the 2021 Budgets? You have announced a tax increase like the one you have announced, today there is no chance of reaching a budget agreement. Do you think that you can still lower taxes? Yes. Selectively, as other countries are doing, there is margin in certain sectors, such as tourism and hospitality. It is time to lower personal income tax in modules and lower VAT for certain services. And I tell you something else: when a rise in the scope of Sánchez's is proposed, obviously it will fall on the middle class. In addition, the tax on large fortunes is nonsense and nonsense. You advocate "selective" tax cuts, but the PP program requires that everything be lowered at once. There are two types of cuts: the circumstantial, now, to return to create incentives for growth in certain sectors; and, later, the structural decreases, which will have to be matched to the rate of growth in Spain, and reducing spending. The PP no longer asks for conditionality for the European fund ... nor will it ask for it later? The PP has demanded responsibility and credibility in Spanish public finances. It is not a necessary legal condition, but it is a condition of any country that is considered rigorous and serious. We have to do our homework for good. What does Calviño's defeat in the Eurogroup mean? It places us in a position of weakness, frustrated, worse than that of two days ago at a critical moment. And it is a clear sign of mistrust towards a radicalized government. What do you think of the case of Juan Carlos de Borbón's 65 million? I'm not going to speak until there is evidence that can be demonstrated, verifiable. What I am not going to accept, whatever happens, is that there is a kind of radical challenge to the Monarchy. If Pablo Iglesias is accused, should he resign as vice president? I am even more practical: whoever is inconsistent in politics should automatically resign. Withholding for apparently spurious, and certainly immoral reasons, a woman's card is male violence. Are there more 'sewers' in the parties than in the State? There is a general crisis of the parties in Spain. All I ask is that it reverse that kind of constant drift in all parties towards a mediocre and gimmicky way of doing politics. For me the sewer is that. The sewer of the parties is intellectual corruption and the loss of knowledge and experience that is taking place. In intelligence there is usually pactism. You have to have more intelligence and less tension and aggressiveness.
