11 July 2020Other mouth of oxygen for the cinema. The Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dario Franceschini has signed the 22 million euro decree for the missed box office receipts and to support outdoor programming in the summer season.

"These additional resources will increase the 20 million already allocated to support cinemas, severely affected by the closure in the lockdown period and which are now experiencing a slow recovery", explained Franceschini. The 20 million will go to enhance the refreshment of lost ticket revenue from cinemas. In addition, the decree provides for a loan of another 2 million euros to support and increase the programming of the outdoor rooms in the summer season.

How to get the 2 million for open-air rooms
These last resources will be shared equally among the beneficiaries, within the limit of 10,000 euros for each beneficiary. Managers of cinemas who have their registered office in Italy, are in possession of the certificate of contributory regularity and program at least 40 screenings, free or paid, in the open-air theater between 15 June and 30 September 2020 may apply. it has been sent to the control bodies and will be available on the MiBACT website www.beniculturali.it after registration. Within five days from the date of registration, the Directorate-General for Cinema and Audiovisual will publish a public notice with the procedures and deadlines for submitting applications for contributions.
