Spielberg (dpa) - The final training for the Formula 1 race in Austria was canceled after constant rain. This was announced by the organizers in Styria.
Instead of going to the last training session before the start chase (3 p.m.) from 12 p.m., Sebastian Vettel & Co. were forced to wait.
The heavy rains on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg had previously ensured that the Formula 3 race in the supporting program of the motorsport premier class had ended after only twelve laps. The conditions had become too dangerous for the drivers.
If a Formula 1 qualification was also not possible, the times of the last training session would be used for the starting grid. Race director Michael Masi had pointed this out. Vettel was only 16th in Friday's second free practice session.
