According to the agency, the city hall did not receive applications for the rally and will not approve it, because public events are banned due to the pandemic.

Despite warnings of fines for participating in an unauthorized rally, on Saturday, July 11, the rally began on Lenin Square, where the administration of the governor and the regional government are located.

The participants walked along the central streets of the city and returned to the square. The action lasted more than four hours, the agency writes.

The ambulance department noted that during the procession the streets were blocked, because of which three ambulances could not drive and had to stand in traffic jams.

“Fortunately, this did not affect the health of patients,” said Andrei Dukhovny, deputy chief physician for the medical department.

There were no reports of deterioration of health among the rally participants, he added.

On July 10, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Sergei Furgal for two months. Before that, he was charged.

According to investigators, Furgal was involved in organizing the murders of entrepreneurs in 2004-2005 in the Khabarovsk Territory and Amur Region.

The defense appeals the court's decision to detain the suspect.
