3 children were killed and two others were injured in an explosive device explosion in Zabul province in southern Afghanistan, according to the Afghan news agency "Khama Press", Saturday.

The Atal 205 Corps said in a statement that the terrorists had planted an improvised explosive device on a roadside in the city of Qala, the capital of Zabul province.

The statement added that the terrorists planted the roadside bomb to target the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces. However, the explosion killed three children and wounded two others, who were subsequently transferred to health facilities by the security forces.

Anti-government armed movements, including the "Taliban", have not commented on the incident so far.

The Taliban and other armed groups often use IEDs to target security forces, but most of these attacks result in civilian casualties.
