The Director-General of the World Health Organization WHO appeals to "global agreement". It is more than six months after the devastating virus was first identified and the world has failed to stop it.

"The biggest threat we face is not the virus itself but rather the lack of leadership and solidarity, globally and nationally," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Friday.

- A divided world cannot defeat the pandemic.

He continued:

- My hope is that today's crucial crisis will remind everyone that the best and only way to move forward is together.
