A man in his 30s is seriously injured when he fell this Friday afternoon from the roof of the Atocha station to the catenary and then to the tracks on track 14 of the Renfe AVE, according to Emergencias Madrid. The individual has rushed at 15:30 from a height of about six or seven meters. First, it collided with the catenary and suffered a strong electric shock. Then he fell onto the tracks and suffered a blow to the head and legs.

Samur-Civil Protection toilets have been transferred to the scene, treating the man with a severe traumatic brain injury, an open fracture of the femur and significant burns from electrocution. He has been intubated and evacuated to the Hospital de la Paz, where he has been admitted in a very serious condition.

According to the first investigations, the man was walking through one of the beams located at the top of the vault of the AVE station in Atocha. The reason he was in that area is unknown. The events, whose strange causes and circumstances are being investigated by the National Police, took place at around 3.30 pm this Friday.
