They noted that the Russian authorities were not notified by the ECHR that the Netherlands filed a complaint.

“In case of receipt of a notification of a complaint, the Ministry of Justice of Russia will organize the necessary work in cooperation with the competent authorities,” the statement said.

The Justice Ministry added that before its examination on the merits, the court must assess its acceptability with the participation of the parties.

“This stage may take several years,” the department explained.

In addition, they emphasized that Russia “categorically rejects accusations of involvement in the crash” of the aircraft in 2014.

Earlier, the Dutch government said they decided to file a lawsuit against Russia in the ECHR due to the collapse of MH17.

In February, Dutch prosecutors indicted four defendants in the MH17 case. The agency also announced a witness for the launch of the Buk missile.

The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the statements of the Joint Investigation Group (SSG) about the involvement of Russians in the crash of the liner are unfounded.

The Boeing 777, which followed flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed on July 17, 2014 in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. Killed 283 passengers and 15 crew members.
