The figures show that until June 5 there were 220 covid-19 cases found among health care personnel in the Örebro County Region.
Around half, 112, apply to people who have worked in one of the county's temporary covid departments, or close to a patient who was later identified with covid-19.
- You can clearly see that staff in covid departments are over-represented when it comes to being themselves infected, says Karin Nordén Persson, Chief Health Care Ombudsman.
Worrying numbersWhether the infection was spread through patients or between the staff, Karin Nordén Persson does not want to speculate, but she says the figures are worrying and still point one way more than the other.
- The ambulance that had a lot of protection has a low number of infected. The midwives who work very safely have so far zero registered infected. So of course I think there is a correlation between having worked in the covid department and getting covid-19 myself.
Can be higherIn the figures SVT Nyheter took part in, neither the emergency room nor the ambulance are counted.
- So probably the number is higher than 112.
Judging from the figures, there is a greater risk of an employee working in a covid department than an ordinary one, should it be so?
- No, of course it should not be so. It makes me worried.
