When Matsutake was designated as an endangered species on the IUCN Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Eto recognized that it is necessary to take measures such as managing resources.
Minister Eto said in a press conference after the cabinet meeting, "I think that we must take into account that Matsutake has been designated as an endangered species. There is no misunderstanding that it does not mean that we cannot eat or sample. I want you to do that."
