Johanna Rolland was re-elected president of Nantes Métropole this Friday morning - J. Urbach / 20 Minutes

  • The metropolitan council installation session took place this Friday morning, with the re-election of Johanna Rolland.
  • An assembly more marked on the left but with various sensitivities.

There was not too much suspense, insofar as she was the only candidate and that the elected officials of her city weighed very heavily in the vote. This Friday morning, a week after having officially returned to the chair of the mayor of Nantes, the socialist Johanna Rolland was re-elected to the post of president of Nantes Métropole with 72 votes (22 whites and three draws).

"We are going to enter a new era, that of another metropolis", she launched in front of the 97 other elected representatives of the 24 municipalities of the agglo gathered at the Cité des Congrès during this installation session. In addition to making the ecological imperative the “keystone” of public policies, she promised to look “beyond administrative boundaries” and to set up a more shared, more “transparent and exemplary” governance, with the need to carry "projects that bring us together".

Composing with various sensitivities

A wish formulated before a new metropolitan council more than ever on the left (after several municipalities have switched), but composed of different sensitivities that will have to be granted. Environmentalists, a little stronger, inherit five vice-presidencies. Jean-Sébastien Guitton, the new mayor of Orvault, is notably entrusted with the question of biodiversity. For Rezé, where a list of citizens on the left beat the outgoing PS mayor, it is city councilor Pierre Quénéa who will be in charge of city policy.

In the close guard of Johanna Rolland, no big changes: the socialists Fabrice Roussel and Bertrand Affilé keep the first two positions and the same portfolios. " Where are the women ? "Wonders metropolitan councilor LR Laurence Garnier, who has only two of the top ten positions.

Over a billion euros in budget

Behind these team challenges, it is a budget of more than a billion euros and major themes (transport, town planning, renewable energy, traffic, waste, major projects ...) that the new assembly is preparing to seize. .

From next week, a session must meet to enter into operation. The free transport measure on weekends could in particular be voted on at this first meeting. "Our ambitious public policies all aim to improve the daily lives of residents," says Johanna Rolland.
