They are usually hundreds of thousands in France to visit their families each summer in the Maghreb. But the coronavirus obviously changed the game this year. Questioned by France 24, Fatiha Ghandi and her three children are used to spending each August with the rest of the family in Morocco. A plan that was necessarily shaken up this year.

"We are a little sad. I think we will not go because nothing is sure yet. The borders are still not reopened," she explains.

Prohibitive prices

If Algeria and Morocco still refuse to reopen their borders to Europeans, Tunisia has lifted all travel restrictions. But getting the precious ticket is no small task. The wait is always longer and prices are soaring.

If flights to Morocco and Algeria are still compromised, people residing in the Maghreb are however allowed to come and visit their families in France.
