The bus driver assaulted Sunday died on Friday, his family announced to AFP. According to the Bayonne prosecutor's office, Philippe Monguillot, 59, was the victim of an "extremely violent" assault when he wanted to control the ticket of one person and demanded the wearing of a mask for three others.

Two men, 22 and 23 years old and known to the police, were suspected of having carried out the beating and were charged with attempted murder and imprisoned. Two other individuals, in their thirties, were imprisoned and charged, in particular for "failure to assist a person in danger".
