On July 9, 2020, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a speech to the China-US Think Tank Media Video Forum.
Wang Yi said that Sino-US relations are facing the most serious challenges since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Out of ideological prejudice, some people in the United States are sparing no effort to render China into an opponent or even an enemy. They are trying every means to curb China's development and unscrupulously hinder the connection between China and the United States. Whether the huge ship that has been sailing for more than 40 years in China-US relations can continue to maintain the correct course is not only closely connected with the interests of the two peoples, but also related to the common future of the world and humanity.
Wang Yi said, "The strength of action is to know more, and the depth of knowledge is to know more". As a vital set of bilateral relations in the world, Sino-US relations need to send more positive messages and release more positive energy. It is hoped that the US will build a more objective and calm understanding of China and formulate a more rational and pragmatic China policy. This is not only in the fundamental interests of the people of China and the United States, but also in line with the expectations of all countries in the world for China and the United States.
