The Vindel River flows together with the Ume River and together the two rivers reach the sea just south of Umeå in Västerbotten County. Here is a conservation area that is used to protect the Vindelälv salmon from fishing.

Although it is forbidden to fish salmon in the conservation area, the County Administrative Board issues an exemption for fishing. In total, there is a quota of 2,000 salmon this year that can be fished in the conservation area.

"With a viable salmon population as a basis, we can really develop the countryside by creating opportunities for visitors to experience this fantastic fish," says nutritional profile Jan Wejdmark, who contributed financially for the Baltic Sea Salmon Foundation to buy the salmon.
