At the meeting, Hu Wenhui released the main work statistics for the first half of 2020. Hu Wenhui pointed out that in the first half of 2020, my country's main intellectual property rights indicators were in line with expectations, and the development of intellectual property rights remained stable.
In terms of patents. In the first half of the year, my country had 683,000 invention patent applications; a total of 217,000 invention patents were authorized. Among them, 176,000 domestic invention patents were authorized. Among domestic invention patent authorizations, service inventions are 169,000, accounting for 96.0%; non-service inventions are 77,000, accounting for 4.0%. In the first half of the year, the top three domestic companies (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) in terms of invention patent grants were: Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (2772), OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. (1925), BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. (1432 Pieces).
As of the end of June 2020, the effective number of invention patents in my country (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) was 1.996 million, and the number of invention patents per 10,000 population reached 14.3. In the first half of the year, the top three provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in my country possessing the number of invention patents per 10,000 population are: Beijing (141.5), Shanghai (56.1), and Jiangsu (31.9)
In the first half of the year, a total of 29,500 PCT international patent applications were accepted, a year-on-year increase of 22.6%. Among them, 26,800 domestic ones, an increase of 20.7% year-on-year. In the first half of the year, the top three provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in the number of PCT international patent applications accepted were: Guangdong (10,900 cases), Beijing (0.38 million cases), and Jiangsu (0.33 million cases).

Accepted 26,600 requests for invalidation of patents; closed 4,300 cases. my country's invention patent examination period is 20.3 months, high-value patent examination period is 15.2 months, utility model examination period is 6.4 months, and design examination period is 3.2 months.
In terms of trademarks. In the first half of the year, the number of trademark applications in my country was 4.284 million; the number of trademark registrations was 2.629 million. As of the end of June 2020, the number of valid registered trademarks in my country was 27.414 million.
A total of 3,875 applications for Chinese trademark international registration for Madrid were received from Chinese applicants, a year-on-year increase of 36.0%. As of the end of June 2020, the number of valid international registrations of Madrid trademarks by Chinese applicants was 41,000.
In the first half of the year, a total of 166,000 applications for trademark review cases were received, and 192,000 cases were closed. The average examination period for trademark registration is stable within 4.5 months.
In terms of geographical indications. In the first half of the year, our bureau approved the use of 322 special signs for geographical indication products and approved the registration of 364 geographical indication trademarks. As of the end of June 2020, a total of 2,385 geographical indication products have been approved, 8811 enterprises have approved the use of special signs, and a total of 5,682 registered geographical indication trademarks have been registered.
In the integrated circuit layout design. In the first half of the year, 5,176 applications for layout design registration of integrated circuits in my country, an increase of 78.2% year-on-year; 5262 certificates were issued, an increase of 111.6% year-on-year.
In the protection and application of intellectual property rights. In the first half of the year, the total number of administrative ruling cases for patent infringement disputes in various provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) nationwide was 5,320. The national patent and trademark pledge deposit amounted to 85.3 billion yuan, an increase of 45% year-on-year, and 4,678 pledged projects, an increase of 52% year-on-year. Among them, the amount of patent pledge deposits was 65.1 billion yuan, an increase of 61%, the number of pledged projects was 4171, an increase of 54%; the total amount of trademark pledges was 20.2 billion, an increase of 8.8%, and the number of pledged projects was 507, an increase of 34%.

First, the overall situation of domestic patent and trademark applications is stable. In the first half of the year, there were 2.195 million applications for three types of patents and 4.17 million applications for trademarks in China. The overall situation of patent and trademark applications was stable, which fully demonstrated that the market players in my country actively responded to the epidemic and accelerated the resumption of production.
The second is the continuous consolidation of the status of domestic companies applying for patents. In the first half of the year, there were 229,000 domestic companies applying for patents, an increase of 32,000 compared with the same period last year. Domestic enterprises submitted a total of 404,000 invention patent applications, an increase of 12.0% year-on-year. In the domestic invention patent applications, enterprises accounted for 66.6%, an increase of 3.2 percentage points from the previous year, which fully demonstrates the continuous consolidation of the domestic enterprises' dominant position in patent applications.
Third, the scale of use of special geographical indications has gradually expanded. In the first half of the year, 322 companies approved the use of special signs for geographical indication products in China, a significant increase from 116 approved in the same period of the previous year, showing that through strengthening the protection of geographical indications with obvious geographical characteristics, distinctive cultural characteristics and outstanding quality characteristics, geographical indications The number has steadily increased, and the number of market participants for the use of special geographical indications has continued to increase and the scale has gradually expanded.
Fourth, the overseas intellectual property layout of market players has developed steadily. In the first half of the year, Chinese applicants submitted 26,800 PCT international patent applications to the State Intellectual Property Office, an increase of 20.7% year-on-year; 3875 applications for international registration of trademarks in Madrid, an increase of 36.0% year-on-year, all maintained rapid growth, showing The awareness of overseas intellectual property layout has been continuously enhanced and the layout has been steadily developing.
