“In connection with the investigation of the murder in a suburb of Vienna ... on our initiative, contact was established between representatives of law enforcement agencies and services of Russia and Austria,” he said. 

The ambassador emphasized that the Russian side reaffirmed its readiness for close cooperation on this issue.

Earlier, the Austrian media, citing the police, reported that an asylum seeker from Russia was found shot dead in the Austrian city of Gerasdorf. Police later said that Martin Beck, a native of Chechnya, was killed.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, commented on the murder of a Russian in Austria.
