A drug trafficking network that a customs officer in the south of France is suspected of having supplied has been dismantled in Alsace, the Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) prosecutor's office said on Wednesday evening.

Judicial information has been opened. Six people were indicted and detained, including a customs officer who was still active in the south of France. The man in his forties was arrested on Monday and placed in police custody in Mulhouse before being charged and imprisoned.

Anonymous whistleblowing letter

The Mulhouse Security Underground Economy Group had been alerted by an anonymous letter showing photos published on social networks of people posing in front of around 30 kilos of cannabis resin.

The network operated in Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Colmar. In addition to cannabis resin, small amounts of MDMA and cocaine were seized, as well as cash.
