America, Germany, Turkey and Qatar have stressed the need for a comprehensive cease-fire in Libya, while Turkey has pledged to continue to support the reconciliation government. The Libyan delegate to the United Nations also stressed the rejection of any role for the Emirates in his country.

In his speech during a meeting of the Security Council on Libya at the ministerial level on Wednesday evening, he called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, to seize all opportunities to break the political deadlock, and support the efforts made by the UN mission to resume the political process, noting that the conflict entered a new stage .

"Time is not on our side in Libya," Guterres said. "The conflict has entered a new stage with foreign intervention reaching unprecedented levels, including sending advanced and mercenary military equipment to take part in the fighting."

Guterres welcomed the announcement by the Human Rights Council to establish a fact-finding mission to investigate the mass graves found by the Al-Wefaq government forces in Tarhuna following the withdrawal of the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Haftar from them.

Guterres expressed concern about civilian and humanitarian aid casualties caused by mines and missiles left by Haftar forces and their mercenaries.

For his part, Libyan delegate to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, denounced the UAE's participation in international meetings on Libyan affairs.

Al-Suni said that the UAE supported Haftar with money and weapons in his coup against the legitimate government, and it has no place in any political dialogues related to the crisis in Libya.

"Why is the UAE present at conferences discussing the future of Libya? Is the UAE a neighbor of Libya? Is it on the Mediterranean? Is it a member of the Security Council?" The Libyan delegate asked.

"If the UAE does not interfere in Libya as it claims, then why is it quick to take a seat at every meeting on Libya? And why does it receive war criminals and give them ample space to hold press conferences on its soil and provide them with money and weapons? We no longer accept any UAE presence in any Political dialogues regarding the crisis in Libya. "

The Sunni also condemned the Egyptian threats to arm the Libyan tribes, warning that the Al-Wefaq government would respond with full force to "any attack" on Libyan soil.

In this context, he said, "We reject these threats and we will face any aggression against us with strength and determination. We affirm that Egyptian national security is part of the Libyan national security, but we will not allow any party to infringe upon our borders."

the only way

For his part, Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said at the session that the only way to solve the crisis is through a comprehensive ceasefire and a cessation of support for illegal factions, and the need to support the government to implement the Skhirat Agreement, Security Council resolutions and conference decisions Berlin.

The Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs called for setting up mechanisms to hold countries accountable for not abiding by international agreements approved by the Security Council.

The US delegate to the United Nations, Kelly Kraft, said that the situation in Libya has changed, but that the US policy on it has not changed.

She added that her country continues to oppose all foreign military interventions in Libya, noting that there is no place for foreign mercenaries there, including Russia's mercenaries, who support Haftar's forces.

"Let me be clear, there is no place for foreign mercenaries or proxy forces fighting in Libya, including, as clear evidence indicates, Russian government agents fighting side by side to support Haftar's forces," she added.

Russian position

On the other hand, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that what he called the Libyan National Army is ready to sign the ceasefire agreement, adding - at a news conference held online - that the National Accord government rejected this and relied on a military solution, he said.

"At one point when we invited the parties to the Libyan conflict early this year to Moscow before the Berlin conference, then the Libyan National Army (referring to the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter) considered that it was advancing on the ground and was not prepared to sign the cessation of hostilities document in The country .. Now the Libyan National Army, according to our assessments, is ready to sign such a document while the Tripoli government does not want this and is counting on a military solution. "

In turn, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sadat Onal said that dealing with Haftar - whom he described as aggressor - on an equal footing with the internationally recognized legitimate government is a grave mistake that must be corrected, adding that Turkey considers the support of the legitimate government and its efforts to protect civilians an international obligation.

"Turkey considers that the support of the legitimate government and its efforts to protect the legitimacy and the lives of civilians represents an international commitment by providing technical and training assistance that we have provided at the request of the government that maintains balance on the ground and prevents a greater humanitarian crisis," Onal added.

For his part, German Foreign Minister Haikou Maas - who chaired a session of the Security Council on Libya - said that external interference is the main engine of the conflict in Libya, adding that stopping the influence of external parties in Libya has become urgent, calling for the unity of the Security Council to implement the decisions related to the crisis Libyan.

A statement of the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said that the solution in Libya must be a political one emanating from the Libyans themselves, not a military one, and that guarantees the unity and sovereignty of Libya. The statement also expressed the kingdom's regret for foreign interference in Libya, which it said was not helping the Libyan parties.

The only document

In the same context, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, who participated in the Security Council session, described the Skhirat agreement as the only document on the table and that adjusting its requirements is the responsibility of the Libyans.

In Paris, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian denied yesterday any bias for his country in the Libyan crisis, stressing that Paris is in talks with "all parties", and condemned the "tricks of deception" practiced by some.

Ludryan told the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee that Paris, Rome and Berlin were on the same waves about the Libyan situation, ignoring tensions that had prevailed in the past on this issue between France and Italy, the former colonial power in Libya.
