Last fall, over 10,000 people were admitted to Luleå University of Technology's programs and courses, which was the highest figure in several years. But this year, the university set a new record with 12,500 people. An increase of 23 percent compared to 2019.

- We are incredibly pleased with the strong search pressure we are seeing. There are many who have been notified and dismissed now in connection with the corona crisis, and it is a very wise future strategy for them to take the opportunity to develop their skills, ”says Vice-Principal Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn in a press release.

Great interest in education throughout Sweden

The programs that have attracted the most are the civil engineering programs and other technology, undergraduate courses, social sciences and health sciences (including nursing, occupational therapist, health counselor and physiotherapist) and music.

The large search pressure is also visible nationally. According to figures from the University and Higher Education Council, UHR, a total of 307,000 people have been admitted to Swedish higher education programs. Which is an increase of ten percent compared to the autumn term of 2019.
